Hot off the Press

It is a dream come true!

Here we are, filled with excitement as Gerry and I take delivery of Beaming Bright, You're a Shining Light. It is "hot off the press" and the final product exceeds all of our expectations by a wide margin. Paul's illustrations are absolutely delightful. We love them all. Here's a picture of me on the day we picked up our books from Metropolitan Fine Printers.

Earlier this summer while I was reading a proof

copy of the book to Rebecca Rose, our granddaughter, she kept pointing to each of the characters in the book and asked "Is this me? Is this me?" I replied "Yes, it can be you." She inspired me to ask children to make their own bookmark with their picture to help them to see themselves in every story.

Rebecca had lots of fun finding the hearts and stars. "Here's one, and here's another one" she would say while giggling and laughing with each new discovery. I've had many treasured moments reading this book to her already and I look forward to many more special moments with all my grandchildren.

I remember back to when I was trying to decide on a title for the book. After reading the Flashing Light story to a child, I asked them "If this was your book, what would you name it?" With big eyes shining bright they whispered to me, "I would call the book 'Love'."

Oh, I am really enjoying this journey.
